William R. Lanius, CPA / CFF / ABV / CIRA

As the founding partner and Managing Director of First Coast Capital, LLC, William R. Lanius is a forensic CPA and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. Mr. Lanius has extensive experience, both as an executive level manager (CFO/COO) and as a consultant in litigation and business restructuring matters including bankruptcy, receivership and out-of-court settlements. His range of financial advisory skills includes interim management, business valuation, complex financial modeling and damages analysis, strategic planning & implementation, litigation support and expert testimony, forensic accounting, asset management and disposition, divestitures & liquidations, bankruptcy and other business restructuring.

PhotoOver the years, Mr. Lanius has held the position of Chief Financial Officer for several notable companies including David Weekley Homes, Mattamy U.S. Group, ALH Holdings, The Forecast Group, American Heritage Homes, Florida Residential Communities and the National Housing Partnerships. All of these businesses operated with multiple divisions, providing him with exposure to most major geographic markets throughout the U.S.

Mr. Lanius has significant operations experience (in a P&L capacity) to complement his financial strengths. Bill has served as a Board member and/or President of holding companies and numerous other businesses engaged in homebuilding, mixed-use land development, income producing investments, mortgage lending, title insurance and related operations. He has also been a member of project approval committees for underwriting acquisitions and new investments and has served as an operations and financial consultant to numerous other companies.

Mr. Lanius has extensive training in bankruptcy and insolvency matters and has represented numerous clients operating in Chapter 11 or receivership, developing and implementing plans of reorganization and disposing of substantial assets pursuant to Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. Credentialed by the AICPA as Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), Mr. Lanius has provided expert testimony and supported numerous law firms in various litigation matters concerning complex business issues. In addition to bankruptcy and insolvency, those cases involved such topics as fraud analysis, business valuation, damages and economic loss calculations. He has been a featured speaker at the “Big Builder” Conference and has written articles for trade publications concerning business planning and restructuring.

Prior to concentrating on business restructuring and financial forensics, Bill was in public accounting with the “Big Four” firm of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). In addition to his CPA designation, Mr. Lanius earned a BBA degree from James Madison University and an MBA from George Washington University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants including the Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Section, the Turnaround Management Association, the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors and the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association and is also a Certified Building Contractor and licensed Real Estate Salesman in the state of Florida.
